Football Recap: Three Straight Road Wins for Lafayette + How To Watch

Lafayette's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Sam Houston Broncos by a score of 35-28. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 41-34 win the Broncos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Sam Houston lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was E.J. Hanney, who rushed for 218 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 138 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Breaux, who rushed for 31 yards and a pair of TDs.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for Sam Houston, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Lafayette will challenge Carencro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sam Houston, they will take on Southside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos will need to watch out since the Sharks have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
