Volleyball Recap: Pike Takes a Loss

The Pike Red Devils came up short against the Decatur Central Hawks on Monday and fell 3-1.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Decatur Central scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22, 25-27, 25-17.

Firroune Ouangueye paced Pike's offense, picking up 15 kills. Ouangueye got some help from PP Moo and his 26 assists. Ouangueye was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Decatur Central can attribute much of their success to Christian Velasquez, who had ten digs. Hudson Smith also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Pike's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Decatur Central, their record now sits at 2-7.

Pike didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Ben Davis on the 23rd. As for Decatur Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Franklin Central on the 23rd.
