Baseball Recap: Western Boone's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Western Boone dropped their record down to 16-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins by a score of 2-1. The Stars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bruins earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Western Boone saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Mallory, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Tri-West Hendricks, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Tri-West Hendricks' side, Zack Baute was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Baute was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Frye, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
