Cruz Wexler was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. San Rafael is 6-2 when Wexler posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise. Sebastian Chick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Las Lomas, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Berean Christian on Thursday as they made off with an 11-3 victory. Las Lomas' win was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 3.86 runs allowed on the season.
Noah Sison tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Foscalina, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Wright, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Las Lomas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Las Lomas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for San Rafael, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12.
San Rafael couldn't quite finish off Las Lomas in their previous meeting back in May of 2019 and fell 2-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
