Marvin Ridge finds home court redemption against Sun Valley

Recap: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Sun Valley Spartans

There's no place like home for the Marvin Ridge Mavericks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Sun Valley 74-55 on Friday. Given Marvin Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Sun Valley is ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Cinjun Bridges, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Brady Dunn, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Sun Valley saw an underclassman step up: Kaleel Benjamin scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Powell, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Marvin Ridge's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Sun Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marvin Ridge will face off against Weddington at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sun Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Porter Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sun Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
