Basketball Game Preview: Fike Demons vs. Beddingfield Bruins

Fike and Beddingfield are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Fike Demons will finish 2024 at home by hosting the Beddingfield Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fike has eight straight victories, Beddingfield has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Fike humbled South Johnston with an 80-40 victory. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 39 points or more this season.

Jamaria Freeman was her usual excellent self, putting up 43 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Fike's points. Another player making a difference was Emory Skinner, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, Beddingfield had to suffer through a 76-24 loss at the hands of Fike. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Demons are ranked 70th).

Beddingfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Fike, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for Fike against Beddingfield in their previous meeting last Friday, as the team secured a 76-24 victory. Will Fike repeat their success, or does Beddingfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
