Baseball Recap: Dundee Wins Going Away Against Hillsdale

Dundee had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Hillsdale Hornets on Thursday as they made off with a 9-2 victory. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 17-10 win the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Logan Turner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dundee is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise. Turner was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Ray, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Dundee's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Hillsdale, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Looking ahead, Dundee will host Tecumseh at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. Hillsdale will be paying especially close attention to Dundee's match: after Dundee faces off against Tecumseh, they'll take on Hillsdale again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
