New Bern is 2-8 against J.H. Rose since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Rampants at 6:00 p.m. New Bern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.5 goals per game this season.

New Bern will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Jacksonville, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bears never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Thursday. New Bern found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: Asher Earle and Grady Carr were both handed yellow cards.

Spencer Goodwin and Dauny Rosales scored all three of New Bern's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 29 goals.

Meanwhile, J.H. Rose had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Falcons. Given J.H. Rose's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 135th, while South Central are ranked 480th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Bern's record now sits at 12-0. As for J.H. Rose, their record is now 5-6-1.

New Bern suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to J.H. Rose when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
