Soccer Game Preview: Mater Academy Charter vs. Hialeah-Miami Lakes

The Mater Academy Charter Lions will head out to challenge the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Trojans at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Mater Academy Charter turned things around against Deerfield Beach on Friday. They and the Bucks finished up their matchup with a 0-0 draw. The result was nothing new for the Lions as the team haven't won a game since December 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Hialeah-Miami Lakes kept a clean sheet against Westland Hialeah on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over the Wildcats. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Hialeah-Miami Lakes' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. Mater Academy Charter's draw gives them a new season record of 4-9-1.

Everything went Mater Academy Charter's way against Hialeah-Miami Lakes when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as Mater Academy Charter made off with a 4-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mater Academy Charter since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
