Baseball Recap: Phoebus Comes Up Short

If Phoebus was feeling good fresh off their 30-3 takedown of Heritage on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Phantoms lost 11-1 to the Churchland Truckers on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Truckers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in April.

Phoebus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Moore, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Phoebus has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Churchland, their record now sits at 10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoebus will take on Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricanes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.29 runs per game on average), something the Phantoms will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Churchland, they will square off against Booker T. Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
