Basketball Recap: Natalie Damron Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Brush

After only 25 points in their last match, Strasburg made sure to put some points up on the board against Brush on Saturday. The Strasburg Indians strolled past the Brush Beetdiggers with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Beetdiggers: they've now won five in a row.

Strasburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Damron out in front who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards. Damron is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Kent, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 13 points.

Strasburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the defeat, Brush saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sidney Miller went 5-for-8 en route to 10 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Michelle Headley was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Strasburg's record now sits at 17-6. As for Brush, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.

Strasburg has already played their next contest, a 54-46 victory against Meeker on the 7th. As for Brush, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-44 win against Peyton on the 7th.
