Baseball Game Preview: York Cougars vs. Dreher Blue Devils

The York Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Dreher Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in York's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

Dreher's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: York hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Larson Montgomery made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because York is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Montgomery was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lukas Carroll, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Henry Fulk was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

York has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Dreher, their record is now 4-8.
