Basketball Recap: Taylor Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

On Friday, the Taylor Wildcats didn't have too much trouble with the St. John Lutheran Saints as they won 71-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

James Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 13 en route to 19 points and four steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Harcus, who posted 13 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Taylor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joel Durran, who had 11 points. Lebraun Russell was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Taylor is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for St. John Lutheran, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Taylor is taking a road trip to take on University at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Taylor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season. As for St. John Lutheran, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oak Hall at 5:30 p.m.
