Softball Recap: George C. Marshall Wins Going Away Against Annandale

George C. Marshall's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Annandale Atoms. That's more bragging rights for the Statesmen, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Rilee Davies was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Davies was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mikka Christensen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Manifor, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

George C. Marshall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 7-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

George C. Marshall's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Annandale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. George C. Marshall will face off against Langley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saxons will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Statesmen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Annandale, they will take on Edison at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
