Basketball Game Preview: Lucy Beckham Bengals vs. Bishop England Battling Bishops

The Lucy Beckham Bengals and the Bishop England Battling Bishops will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Lucy Beckham came up short against Ashley Ridge on Friday, falling 65-39. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Swamp Foxes are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Bishop England unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 56-40 fall against Wando.

Lucy Beckham will have to contain Hadley Irvine as she made an impact in Bishop England's last game. She went 8 for 13 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds. Irvine has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Olivia Allen was another key player, putting up ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Lucy Beckham's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Bishop England, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Lucy Beckham came up short against Bishop England in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 50-40. Can Lucy Beckham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
