Softball Game Preview: Saint James Trojans vs. Mobile Christian Leopards

The Saint James Trojans will challenge the Mobile Christian Leopards at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Saint James is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Alabama Christian Academy get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won six contests in a row.

Not much got past Emily Needham, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Alabama Christian Academy off the board. Needham has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tatiana Shuford was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Darby, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Saint James always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alabama Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .118.

Meanwhile, Mobile Christian waltzed into their match last Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Warriors 11-1.

Mobile Christian pushed their record up to 21-18-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Saint James, their win bumped their record up to 48-7.

Saint James suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Mobile Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
