Softball Recap: Gregory-Portland Wildcats vs. Alexander Bulldogs

Gregory-Portland posted their closest win since February 14th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Alexander Bulldogs. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Alyssa Castro was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Gregory-Portland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive matches.

Gregory-Portland's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Alexander, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Gregory-Portland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-3 win against Judson on the 28th. As for Alexander, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-1 loss against East Central on the 28th.
