Soccer Game Preview: Elbert County vs. Oglethorpe County

Elbert County hasn't had much luck against Oglethorpe County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Elbert County Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Oglethorpe County Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Elbert County has given up an average of 2.7 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Elbert County came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Athens Academy, falling 8-0.

Meanwhile, Oglethorpe County kept a clean sheet against Madison County on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Red Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won four contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Oglethorpe County's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Elbert County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-3.

Elbert County suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Oglethorpe County when the teams last played back in February of 2020. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Elbert County was down 5-0.
