Basketball Recap: Rock Hill Comes Up Short

After flying high against Grace Christian last Thursday, Rock Hill came back down to earth. The Rock Hill Redmen had to suffer through a 79-27 loss at the hands of the Fairland Dragons. The Redmen were probably out for revenge after losing 72-29 to them when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamryn Barnitz led the charge by going 6 of 10from beyond the arc on her way to 20 points along with five boards and five steals. That's the most steals Barnitz has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Russell, who went 8 of 15 en route to 22 points and three steals.

Rock Hill now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Fairland, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Rock Hill will venture away from home to challenge Gallia Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairland, they will host Ironton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
