Volleyball Recap: Evan Sun's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stagg over Tokay

Stagg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tokay Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Monday.

Stagg actually scored more points across those five sets (105-104), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Several Delta Kings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Sun, who had 23 digs and 15 kills. Sun has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last six times he's played. Angelo Lagrimas was another key player, getting 15 digs, two aces, and one block.

Stagg's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Tokay, their win bumped their record up to 4-20.

Stagg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Franklin on the 16th. As for Tokay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Bear Creek on the 16th.
