Basketball Recap: Cottage Comes Up Short

If Cottage was feeling good fresh off their 68-31 takedown of Atlanta Area School for the Deaf last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cottage Cougars had to suffer through an 85-31 loss at the hands of the Tapestry Charter Titans. The Cougars have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Cottage still got an impressive performance from Maxwell Lagan, who posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Lagan's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Tapestry Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zuri Stanback, who earned 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. What's more, Stanback also posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kingston Willingham, who had 20 points and seven boards.

Cottage's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Tapestry Charter, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Cottage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-47 win against Varsity Opponent on the 12th. As for Tapestry Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-48 victory against Howard on the 12th.
