Softball Recap: Oxford Chargers vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars
After flying high against Bruce last Monday, Oxford came back down to earth. The Oxford Chargers fell victim to a rough 12-6 loss at the hands of the DeSoto Central Jaguars on Thursday. Oxford has not had much luck with DeSoto Central recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Addy Shorter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was MC King, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
On DeSoto Central's side, Katelyn Short and Londen Armstrong did most of the damage at the plate: Short scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Armstrong scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Dale, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for DeSoto Central, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10.
Oxford will take on Lewisburg at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Lewisburg's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Oxford's hitters will have their work cut out for them. DeSoto Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
