Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Classical Academy Caimans

The Bonita Vista Barons will be taking part in a tournament against the Classical Academy Caimans at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Bonita Vista saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Torrey Pines by a score of 2-1.

DEMARCO ROJAS was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Bonita Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ADRIAN FIGUEROA, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Classical Academy). They blew past Grossmont 12-5 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Caimans needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Classical Academy also got a great performance from Adam Hukill as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave Hukill a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Trevor Hoff was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Aidan Suitor was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Classical Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Bonita Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
