Basketball Recap: Escondido Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Escondido can now relate to. They came up short against the Chula Vista Spartans on Tuesday, falling 68-46. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 66-44.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chula Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Gillespie, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Ruiz, who scored 18 points.

Escondido has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-12 record this season. Chula Vista's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-6.

Escondido does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chula Vista, they will face off against Pacific Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chula Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
