Baseball Game Preview: Fisher Gators vs. Chalmette Owls

The Fisher Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Chalmette Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fisher barely beat South Plaquemines the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Fisher's pitchers stepped up to hand South Plaquemines a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won three in a row.

Tyler Mike was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Fisher let Charles Shamp and Colten Kereokowsky run wild. Shamp scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Kereokowsky scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave Kereokowsky a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Chalmette waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Rebels as they made off with a 7-0 victory.

Fisher pushed their record up to 13-3-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chalmette, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Fisher might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Chalmette in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Fisher avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
