Flag Football Recap: Emerson Murrell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gardendale over Homewood

Gardendale's game on Tuesday was all tied up 6-6 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost 31-6 to the Homewood Patriots. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Rockets, who until this game were averaging 14.33 points allowed.

Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emerson Murrell, who picked up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Gardendale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Von Everrette and Kyleigh Gowins.

Gardendale has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Homewood, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Coincidentally, Gardendale and Homewood will both be playing Midfield the next time they take the field. The Rockets will head out to face the Patriots at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Patriots will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
