Soccer Recap: Brandon Comes Up Short

Brandon entered their match against Northwest Rankin on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Brandon Bulldogs fell just short of the Northwest Rankin Cougars by a score of 3-2. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Kenedee Riley and Carleigh King scored both of Brandon's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 20 goals.

Brandon's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-1-1. As for Northwest Rankin, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2-1.

Brandon and Northwest Rankin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Brandon (ranked first) will meet Pearl (ranked 39th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brandon's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Northwest Rankin's offense will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Northwest Rankin will square off against Meridian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday up 92 places (2 vs. 94).
