Basketball Recap: North Mecklenburg Skates Past Harding University with Ease

North Mecklenburg won the last time they faced Harding University and things went their way on Monday too. The North Mecklenburg Vikings breezed by the Harding University Rams to the tune of 74-27. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Rams are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Mecklenburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lenise Joseph, who went 7 of 11 en route to 24 points. Joseph's evening made it 16 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanon Hoover, who went 8 for 10 on her way to 18 points and six boards.

North Mecklenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

North Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Harding University, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

North Mecklenburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 94-19 victory against Hopewell on the 14th. As for Harding University, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-22 loss against Hough on the 14th.
