Softball Game Preview: Santa Fe Chiefs vs. La Serna Lancers

The Santa Fe Chiefs are taking a road trip to challenge the La Serna Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Santa Fe managed to slip by Granada Hills Charter the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Chiefs came up short against the Highlanders on Saturday, falling 12-2.

Isabella Offield was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, La Serna fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Whittier Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Heralds by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Lancers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Karina Torres spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Elissa Guerrero made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Aubrie Baruch also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for La Serna, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Santa Fe might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from La Serna in their previous meeting on April 3rd. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
