Johnson Central waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They strolled past the Paintsville Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 78-64. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Tigers two weeks ago, they had to take a 72-62 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Johnson Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Austin Slone, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Slone has scored at least a third of Johnson Central's points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Shepherd, who went 9 for 10 en route to 25 points and three steals.

Johnson Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.3 points per game. As for Paintsville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.

Coincidentally, Johnson Central and Paintsville will both be playing Magoffin County the next time they take the court. Johnson Central will head out to face Magoffin County at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Paintsville will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
