Baseball Recap: Stone Memorial's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Stone Memorial came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Roane County Yellowjackets as they made off with a 9-1 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Shaeffer Sitton tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Kyle Hinch was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Wilson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Stone Memorial pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Roane County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stone Memorial will face off against White County at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Roane County, they will challenge Polk County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
