In short time, we'll roll over the calendar to a new year ... and new decade.

Yes, the 20s are upon us and we thought it a great time to look back at what the 2010s gave us in terms of high school sports — amazing individual performances, outstanding career totals and record-breaking accomplishments.

Over the next week, we will look back at boys and girls basketball statistical performances, in addition to a look at the Team of the Decade, Player of the Decade and Coach of the Decade in each sport.

Today, MaxPreps presents the best high school teams in each sport over the past 10 years.

Girls Volleyball
Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.)
The Monarchs won six straight CIF state championships from 2012 to 2017 and was also ranked No. 1 in the MaxPreps national computer rankings for five of those seasons. During that stretch, Mitty won 35 games or more for six straight seasons.

Punahou (Honolulu)
Punahou has won 37 state championships in boys volleyball and nine have come during the past decade. Punahou has also won nine state titles in a row, which is the third-longest streak in U.S. history. Punahou already holds the longest streak of consecutive state championships at 11 from 1980 to 1990.

Girls Tennis
Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.)
Last spring, Cherry Creek won its third straight state championship in girls tennis, but the title was also the 22nd out of the past 23 seasons. All totaled, Cherry Creek has won 36 state championships.

Boys Tennis
Albuquerque Academy (Albuquerque)
Since winning the school's first boys tennis state title in 1993, Albuquerque Academy has won 23 championships, but the last 17 of them have come consecutively. The Chargers are the only school in the nation to win 10 state championships in boys tennis during the decade.

Boys Soccer
St. Ignatius (Cleveland)
By winning a state championship in November, St. Ignatius extended its state record to nine state championships in the program's history. Five of those state titles have come in the past decade, including 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2019. The Wildcats also went undefeated during four of those seasons.

Girls Soccer
St. Scholastica (Covington, La.)
The Doves reached the Division 1 state championship game eight times during the 2010s including six straight from 2010 to 2015. St. Scholastica also won five state crowns during the decade, including the last two (2018, 2019).

Girls Swimming
Carmel (Ind.)
Hard to select against a swimming program that has won 33 straight state championships (in a state that only crowns one state champion per year). The run of state championships is six better than the closest team (Bolles has 27 in a row). Carmel swimmers and relay teams have also recorded 28 times over the past decade that are listed in the National Federation of High Schools record book.

Boys Swimming
Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.)
Besides winning 32 straight state championships, including 10 during the 2010s, Bolles also has 11 swimmers or relay teams listed in the national record book posted by the NFHS.

Girls Golf
Xavier College Prep (Phoenix)
Xavier College Prep won eight state golf championships during the decade, between 2011 and 2018, and it finished second in the state the other two years. The program has 36 state championships in its history, which is nearly double the next closest team on the national list.

Boys Golf

The longest dual meet win streak in the nation belongs to CBA. Since last losing in 1973 (yes, 1973), Christian Brothers has won 368 straight dual meets. During the 2010s, CBA also won the New Jersey Meet of Champions nine times and won the Nike Cross Nationals Championship in 2011.

Girls Cross Country

The Hornets have won the Nike Cross Nationals — the premier cross country race in the nation — 11 times in the past 14 seasons. The Hornets won nine Class A state championships during the decade, finishing second in 2018 by one point.

Boys Basketball

The Pantherettes captured four state championships during the 2010s, winning back-to-back titles in 2012-13 and 2016-17. The MaxPreps computer rankings rated Duncanville No. 1 in the nation in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. Between the 2010-11 season and 2018-19, Duncanville posted a record of 356 wins and just 30 losses. Duncanville went undefeated in 2015-16 (39-0) and 2012-13 (42-0).

Boys Wrestling

A prep school in Delaware, Blair Academy has had the nation's premier wrestling program for nearly 50 years. The school has been particularly successful in the last half of the past decade, winning national prep team titles from 2015 to 2019 and also finishing as the nation's No. 1 team during that same time frame.
