High school football state champions were crowned in six classifications last weekend in Oklahoma. Three more were decided this weekend in Class 2A, A and B.
The action began Friday with Shattuck (15-0) beating Regent Prep (14-1) 24-19 for the Class B crown. With the victory, the Indians claimed their 12th state title overall and third in a row.
Saturday, Ringling (13-1) kicked off the day with a 20-14 victory over Cashion (13-1) in the Class A title game.
The final game of the season in the Sooner State certainly didn't disappoint as Metro Christian (15-0) outlasted Vian (12-2) 42-34 for the 2A championship.
The Class 6A Division I championship game was played last Saturday and Owasso (13-0) capped an unbeaten season with a 14-6 win over Jenks (8-5). The Rams have now won two of the last three big school state titles.
Also Saturday, Carl Albert (13-1) won its 15 state title all-time with a 30-15 victory over Bishop McGuinness.
On Friday, Bixby (13-0) beat Stillwater (12-1) 40-36 for the Class 6A Division II title. Bixby also beat Stillwater in the championship game in 2018 and has won titles five of the last six years.
Bixby scored a touchdown with a little over a minute to go for the win.
Poteau is the state champ in Class 4A after winning a 9-7 slugfest against Weatherford. Poteau extended its lead to 9-0 by kicking a field goal with 11 minutes to go and held on from there.
