Softball Recap: Childress Wins Going Away Against West Texas

Childress's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 14-0 margin over the West Texas Comanches. Considering the Bobcats have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ansley Parr made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Childress got a massive performance out of Kaylee Felton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Journey Prince was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Childress kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Childress now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for West Texas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Childress will welcome Dalhart at 4:30 p.m. on March 18th. Dalhart has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.9 runs per game on average), something Childress will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Texas, they will venture away from home to square off against Highland Park at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Highland Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
