Basketball Recap: Bryanna Gillock's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whiteland over Columbus East

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Whiteland can now relate to. They took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbus East Olympians. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Olympians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Whiteland lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryanna Gillock, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Gillock a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Dyer, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points and five boards.

Whiteland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Columbus East, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 2-21 record.

Whiteland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Columbus East, they will square off against Columbus North at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbus North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
