Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Linda Bulldogs vs. La Joya Community Fighting Lobos

For the first time this season, Sierra Linda will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will welcome the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos at 3:45 p.m.

Sierra Linda came up short against Carl Hayden Community on Wednesday, falling 17-5.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Joya Community). Everything went their way against Central on Thursday as La Joya Community made off with a 23-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Fighting Lobos sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Dominik Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because La Joya Community is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Garcia was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cayson Hamrick was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles. Another player making a difference was Gavino Bustamante, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

La Joya Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sierra Linda now has a losing record of 1-2. As for La Joya Community, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
