Football Recap: Poteet Comes Up Short

If Poteet was riding high fresh off their 55-35 takedown of Greenville two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates came up short against the Corsicana Tigers on Friday, falling 49-28. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Kevin Pointer Jr had an outrageously good game for Corsicana as he threw for 346 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (113 yards to be exact) went to CJ Davis.

Poteet's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Corsicana, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Poteet will take on rival Kaufman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Corsicana is set to face off against their familiar foe Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
