Softball Game Preview: Pioneer Diamondbacks vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders

The Pioneer Diamondbacks will head out on the road to square off against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pioneer is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Vela just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sabercats by a score of 6-5.

Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-4.

Pioneer beat Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North 11-8 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pioneer since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
