Softball Game Preview: Okaw Valley Timberwolves vs. Heyworth Hornets

Okaw Valley is 1-6 against Heyworth since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Timberwolves will square off against the Hornets. Okaw Valley has given up an average of 19.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Okaw Valley is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Tolono Unity, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, Heyworth came up short against Fisher on Wednesday and fell 9-6.

Grace Streenz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Kopp, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Heyworth has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Okaw Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Okaw Valley skirted past Heyworth 8-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
