Oakwood had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Northmont Thunderbolts by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Oakwood sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-13.

Evie Connor paced Oakwood's offense, picking up nine kills. Connor got some help from Berkley Parker and her 14 assists. Connor was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Coincidentally, Oakwood and Northmont will both be playing Fairborn the next time they take the court. The Lumberjacks will head out to face the Skyhawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Thunderbolts will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
