Football Recap: Gretna Dragons vs. Blair Bears
Gretna was the 42-16 winner over Blair when they last played one another back in September of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Gretna Dragons had to suffer through a 55-22 loss at the hands of the Blair Bears. The loss was the Dragons' first of the season.
Gretna's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Drew Boltz and Michael Knudsen. Boltz picked up 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Knudsen threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Knudsen is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Gretna also got a significant boost from Logan Secora, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.
Brock Templar was nothing short of spectacular for Blair: he rushed for 263 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 103 receiving yards. Templar's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
Having lost for the first time this season, Gretna fell to 2-1. As for Blair, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.
Gretna will welcome Elkhorn North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elkhorn North will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Gretna surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blair, they will head out to face off against Norris at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
