Baseball Game Preview: South Wake Sabres vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders

The South Wake Sabres will square off against the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. South Wake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

While South Wake's win against DASH wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sabres had just enough and edged out the United 5-3. That's two games straight that the Sabres have won by exactly two runs.

The team relied heavily on Caden Collins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Meanwhile, Riverdale Baptist scored first but ultimately less than Southern Maryland Christian Academy in their match on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

RILEY BLOUNT was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. BLOUNT was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, DIXON MONK made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. JAYDEN JOHNSON was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

South Wake's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Riverdale Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
