Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Moore Catholic's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Iona Prep, Moore Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jay Hawks, sneaking past 3-2. While the Mavericks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

RYAN ZEH looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Moore Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was TODD VIERRA, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple was VIERRA's first of the season. Another was MATTHEW DOYLE, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Moore Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Jay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

The future could be bright for both Moore Catholic and Jay: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Mavericks will look to extend All Hallows' four-game losing streak when they meet at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jay will try to hand Wagner their seventh-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
