Softball Recap: Lathrop Drops Season-High Score on Grace Davis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lathrop). They put the hurt on Grace Davis with a sharp 22-3 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for Lathrop, who have now won six contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Maci De Costa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lathrop got a massive performance out of Ja'Leiyah Ray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Aubree Martinez was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Lathrop kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lathrop is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Grace Davis, their defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-11.
