Football Recap: Odessa Comes Up Short

Odessa had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-10 to make it nine. They were outmatched by the Midland Legacy Rebels and fell 58-28. While losing is never fun, the Bronchos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 807th, while the Rebels are ranked 102nd).

Odessa's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Rodriguez and Aramis 'Bo' Rodriguez. Andrew picked up 160 receiving yards and one score, while Aramis 'Bo' picked up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Andrew is now averaging an impressive 104.6 receiving yards per game.

As for Midland Legacy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Hayes Hamm was his usual excellent self, rushing for 124 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Midland Legacy is 2-1 when Hamm posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. Ja'Braylen Anders also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Odessa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midland Legacy, they have already played their next contest, a 62-42 win against Franklin on the 14th.
