Baseball Recap: Odyssey Charter Comes Up Short

Odyssey Charter had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 9-11 to make it five. They fell just short of the Dickinson Rams by a score of 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Owls' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Cayden Cutillo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Odyssey Charter is 2-1 when Cutillo posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-10 otherwise. Jordyn Brown was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

As for Dickinson, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On Dickinson's side, Joseph Quigley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Quigley has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Asante Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Alex Perez Luyando also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As of now, neither Odyssey Charter nor Dickinson have any future games scheduled.
