Softball Game Preview: Thomas Nelson Generals vs. Burgin Bulldogs

The Thomas Nelson Generals will square off against the Burgin Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burgin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Thomas Nelson, who comes in off a win.

Thomas Nelson will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Bardstown on Tuesday. The Generals put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Burgin came up short against Berea last Tuesday, falling 18-2. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 16 runs.

Thomas Nelson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Burgin, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Thomas Nelson couldn't quite get it done against Burgin when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 13-9. Can the Generals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
