Basketball Recap: Kuna Kavemen vs. Eagle Mustangs

Kuna lost against Eagle back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Kuna Kavemen fell 68-55 to the Eagle Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Kavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Mustangs are ranked fourth).

Eagle found their leader in sophomore Berkley Jones, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 boards. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taya Nelson, who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Kuna has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Eagle, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kuna will head out to take on Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kuna is facing Meridian at the right time seeing as Meridian is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Eagle, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocky Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eagle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
