Baseball Game Preview: Rolesville Rams vs. Knightdale Knights

Rolesville is a perfect 10-0 against Knightdale since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rolesville has three straight victories, Knightdale has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Rolesville proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Willow Spring 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since April 25, 2024.

Cooper Redfern spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Rolesville let Jayshawn Richardson and Logan Daniel run wild. Richardson went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Daniel scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Richardson a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Knightdale fell victim to Cary and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to the Imps.

Knightdale's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Rolesville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.

Rolesville's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Rams have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Knightdale, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rolesville continue to outrun the ball?

Everything went Rolesville's way against Knightdale in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as Rolesville made off with a 7-0 win. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
