Soccer Game Preview: Gainesville vs. Springstead

The Gainesville Hurricanes will face off against the Springstead Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Gainesville is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Friday. They lost 5-2 to Santa Fe. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Raiders are ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, Springstead came up short against Land O' Lakes last Friday, falling 4-1.

Springstead's goal came courtesy of Raul Maldonado, who's now up to 21 this season.

Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 12-3-1. As for Gainesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-3.

Everything went Gainesville's way against Springstead in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, as Gainesville made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gainesville since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
